X-Info DataServer (XIDS) is a web mapping tool that allows you to share your spatial information across the web. With 90 minutes of training, non-GIS users will be accessing information that has previously been restricted to the desktop PC of GIS Specialists. Whether the files are tab, shape, cad, jpeg, ecw (amongst others), XIDS is able to display the information through an easy to use GUI. Users have access to layer controls, attribute searching, hotlinked information, measuring tools, Google interface and are also able to mark up and print maps. The administration console is also web based allowing key staff to conveniently make changes, upload data and create users over the internet as required.

Take a look at some of the features of X-Info DataServer:

Easy access to data

Map mark up and printing

The Markup maps feature enables users to create customised markup layers. The markup layers can be shared among all users within a project, allowing users to view and edit the same layer in real time. Markup layers can be exported as a tab file. Features such as text, callouts, points, lines and regions can be created within the markup layer.

Customised Views

Tabviews set up by the Administrator will provide users with quick and easy access to specific layers commonly viewed or customised to a required appearance. Each view may have a selection of layers and thematics that may differ from the default layer appearance. The Tabviews will display the preset layers when selected and are restored each time the user begins a new session in a Project.

Named Views enable users to select predefined locations and zoom to them. Named Views are set by the project administrator, allowing users to access common locations quickly and easily.

Layer Control

Layers can be added or removed from the map display by turning them on/off within the data catalogue window. Layer settings can also be modified using the layer properties tools. Settings such as layer style, colour, symbol and transparency can be changed by the user for their current session of DataServer only. Users also have the ability to search for any attribute information within the various layers contained within the project.

Additional Information

The ‘Get Feature Info’ button will display the database information for any objects selected in the map window. A results window will display layers selected and feature information. In addition to this, DataServer also has the ability to Hotlink to other files, documents, databases, images or webpages.

Google Link

DataServer has the ability to link through to Google Earth or Google Maps for those users who do not currently have imagery to support their project. The user can take advantage of this functionality in a number of ways including searching for a specific location in Google, viewing a current location in Google and also by exporting the currently displayed layers in Google along with the menu tree so that the user still has the ability to control what information is being displayed.

System Administration

The administration console within DataServer has been designed specifically to allow organisations to self administer their own installations should they wish to. Project creation, data uploading and configuration along with user setup is a simple process that is taught in our administrator training course. Accessing the administration console is made easy as it is all handled via the web, ensuring that key staff can make changes without having to be working on a particular desktop machine.

WMS

X-Info DataServer has support for the addition to projects and/or serving to other GIS and Web Mapping solutions of WMS and WFS layers. This unique functionality will allow you to take advantage of any data providers who are WMS/WFS enabled and reduce the amount of data you are storing whilst ensuring that you are working with the most up to date information. In addition to this, DataServer is able to act as a WMS/WFS server which will allow you to support other systems data requirements easily and efficiently.

this example shows how users can use Open Street Maps within X-Info DataServer.

Query Highlighting

Any features queried in the map window remain highlighted in red while the query results window is active. Users have the ability to zoom and change the map display while maintaining the highlighted query results. The highlighting will be removed when the Results window is closed.

Print Query Results

Query Results are maintained in the print window for printing or pdf map output. Any highlighted features resulting from a query are displayed in the print layout window when the print function is selected.

Enhanced Printing and PDF Map Output

The Print functionality has been enhanced to include a new layout window and print tools, enabling users to create hard copy maps with ease. The selection of markup tools and their features have been improved to simplify customisation of maps and a series of map layout templates are available to enable output of a range of map sizes and orientation. Customised templates can be created in html format and added for specific Client and Project use.

PDF Map Output A Print to PDF functionality is now included in the print tools, enabling clients to set up a customized map template for pdf map output and print or save pdf files. The pdf map output enables users to store maps as files for printing, reference or distribution.
